About Full Face CPAP Masks

CPAP Equipment Includes Appropriate CPAP Headgear

Alan Camboni was a newly diagnosed sleep apnea patient. He had just gotten his breathing machine that came with a full face CPAP mask.

"One thing I've seen already is it takes working with an expert to make sure the full face masks fit good," Camboni said. "And this is clearly a case where one size does not fit all."

"Being a mouth breather eliminated any hope of getting away with using a nasal apnea mask."

"Then too you want it so the top of your full face masks sit on the bridge of your nose - while the bottom snuggles up to that grove just above your chin and below your bottom lip."

"Some feel laying down during the fitting is important. I'm not so sure about that tip to be honest."

"So far," Alan added, "I've had my share of problems with nasal congestion, dry mouth, throat discomfort, and irritated eyes from the mask. I'm still trying to tweak this thing with advice from others to eliminate those problems."

"One tip that has panned out for me though is shaving before going to bed. Seems less stubble increases the chances of getting a good seal easier."

"I'm determined to get the hang of this CPAP system," said with a smile. Since I've seen how much better full face CPAP masks can make me feel when I get them situated right. That and keeping it on all night long helps too."
